Women's History Month Spotlight: Meet Flowcode Partner - Lauren Gray

Meet Lauren Gray, Founder of Team MomSquad

March is Women's History Month, honoring the vital role of women in American history. This year’s theme is “Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope,” a tribute to the caregivers and frontline workers during the pandemic and in recognition of the many ways women have provided healing and hope throughout history.

This month we wanted to spotlight some of the partners we work with, incredible women who are business owners, creating an impact in their communities and or paving the way for future generations of female leaders. They share how they use the Flowcode platform to grow their business, what Women's History Month means to them, the best advice they've ever received and more.

Tell us about you and your business:

As a mom of 4 with a newborn, I had been very overwhelmed with my pregnancy and then postpartum journey. I was talking to friends who were in a similar situation and we all agreed that there had to be a better way to support moms who need an extra set of hands. We wanted to pair moms up to help one another to help manage the everyday demands of work, school, and home and that’s how Team MomSquad was born. We built a community of moms in Texas who support one another with anything they could possibly need help with, which includes everything from house cleaning, laundry, prepping meals and grocery shopping to dog training and putting together goodie bags for a kid’s birthday. I’ve surrounded myself with some pretty amazing women and it really makes the motherhood journey so much easier.

We started the company in San Antonio and now we have MomSquad members in Dallas and Austin. The level of engagement and excitement from moms who need help and moms who want to help surprises me everyday.

How do you use the Flowcode platform across your business?

First and foremost, we love the look and design of the codes and the way that we can seamlessly incorporate our brand into the code. We use Flowcode QR codes on all of our marketing materials from postcards, to business cards to car magnets.

Through Flowcode we are able to create a consolidated scan experience with Flowpage as there is a lot of information we can provide for moms interested in getting involved. That includes links from different service providers, places to leave reviews, ways to tip MomSquad members, social media, referral links for interest forms for service providers. Flowcode has been such a valuable tool in creating one access point for our audience to get involved with the Team MomSquad platform.

What lessons have you learned as a female founder and entrepreneur?

It is very important to me to make sure that I surround myself with women that are smarter than me. This is important because you have to be able to admit to yourself that you don’t know how to do everything and bring in people that can help you do the things you can’t. Don’t try to do it alone, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. You also have to be open to getting feedback from people who you work with.

What does Women’s History Month mean to you?

Women’s History Month is a great time for me to reflect on the amazing women that I am surrounded by who really own who they are and are doing things that are different. They aren’t concerned with other people’s opinions and don’t let the pressures from social media affect how they view themselves. I feel like so many women now are embracing the idea of self care and putting ourselves first, because if we don’t take care of ourselves we can’t take care of people around us.

When I think about Women’s History Month in the context of Team MomSquad, this business would never have existed back in the day. Women were expected to do it all and never ask for help. Stay at home mom or not - that’s a full time job. I think about all of the women who have come before me, especially as a Black woman and continuing to pave the way for Black female entrepreneurs.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Don’t be afraid to be fully who you are. People are either going to like you or not, but you can’t worry about what other people think. You have to embrace who you are and be authentic to yourself and your values.
