After having learned how to create your own Flowpage, it's important to consider how you want your audience to access it. There are plenty of ways to do this, such as a Flowcode, link in bio, or even a Flowtag.
Flowtag was created as a way to seamlessly connect and share your content with people on-the-go. They are durable bubble stickers that can be applied to the back of your phone, wallet, or any other item you carry around with you. Flowtags are (near field communication) NFC- and QR-code-enabled, meaning they can be tapped or scanned to connect to your digital universe.
When a person taps or scans your Flowtag, they are directed to your customized Flowpage where they can save your contact information, explore your content, and follow you on all your socials.
One of Flowtag’s biggest use cases is as a business card replacement. Most people don’t carry around their business cards at all times and the majority of business cards that get handed out just end up in the trash or forgotten, so this was Flowcode’s solution! You can seamlessly network and have others instantly save your contact information.
Although Flowtags contain an adhesive to stick on to your phone or wallet, they differ from the stickers we sell in our Print Store. Each Flowtag is equipped with scan to own (STO) technology that prompts you to set a destination upon scanning it for the first time. This is a necessary step in the Flowtag setup process to ensure your Flowtag properly scans. It's important to note that your Flowtag arrives as a blank slate, meaning there is no destination set until you scan to activate it. When you bulk order Flowtags, they will all look like the same code to the naked eye, but they’ll have unique data patterns. These unique data patterns are what enable you to track scans and engagement with each individual Flowtag via real-time analytics.
Please note: ordering Flowtags in bulk means each one is a unique code and its destination will need to be manually activated for each one.
There is a significant difference between a sticker and a Flowtag. A Flowcode sticker is a pre-made Flowcode that has been created in your account already. Its scan destination is already set prior to you receiving it. When you bulk order stickers, they will all be the same exact code with the same data pattern and scan destination. Real-time data & analytics are available for the stickers as a whole, not each individual sticker.
You can order Flowtags through the Flowcode Store. Find the Flowtag by logging into your Flowcode account and clicking on ‘Print Store’ in the left hand navigation. Among other products, you’ll be able to choose from a few different options:
The Custom Flowtag option will allow you to use one of your own Flowcode designs, whereas the Pre-designed Flowtag option has a few different designs you can choose from. Note that a ‘Scan Only’ means the Flowtag does not include tap/NFC capabilities.
If you have questions regarding the Flowcode Print Store, you can learn more about it in our Flowcode Onboarding: Printing your Flowcode post!
Before applying the Flowtag to your device, first tap or scan it to begin the setup process. As mentioned before, if you have a ‘Scan Only’ Flowtag, then your tag does not include NFC (or tap) capabilities.
Follow these steps to set up your Flowtag successfully:
Step 1: Tap or scan your Flowtag
Tapping or scanning your Flowtag will bring you to the instruction flow. The instruction flow will guide you through the activation of your Flowtag.
Step 2: Follow the on-screen instructions
These instructions will show you how to activate your Flowtag step-by-step. You can create a new Flowcode account or use an existing one. You’ll also be able to create a new Flowpage or link an existing one.
Step 3: Place your Flowtag
To properly add your Flowtag, peel the sticker off the back of your tag and stick it to the back of your phone, phone’s case, or wallet. Place your Flowtag in the correct spot for your phone’s model (iOS or Android) to ensure the best quality tapping experience.
On an iOS device, place the Flowtag on the back of the phone near the lower half of the device. Any higher and it will interfere with the device’s Apple Pay capability.
On a Samsung device, place the Flowtag on the back of the phone near the upper right half, opposite your camera. Some Android phones have a different tapping sweet spot, so refer to this link to find best placement practices for Samsung phones.
Hopefully now that you’ve read through most of the Flowcode Onboarding posts, you’re comfortable with what the product suite offers. Flowcode, Flowpage, and Flowtag can be used in tandem to engage your audience, customers, and followers in your perfectly customized online ecosystem.
In the next and final self-onboarding post, we’ll walk through what data and analytics you have access to, why they’re important, how you can use them to curate effective content, and how they compare to other QR-providers’ data.
