Name: Sumer Rathinam
Role at Flowcode: Tech Lead, Flowpage Backend Team
Past work experience: Software engineer at Capital One working on data ethics and privacy initiatives
Project you are most proud of that you have worked on: I had the privilege of working on the Clear The List initiative here at Flowcode. Every year thousands of school teachers are not given the proper funds to set up their classrooms and buy supplies. Clear The List is an initiative that sets up a Flowpage for each state and then adds an entry for any teacher along with a link to their classroom wishlist. These Flowpages have been shared with the public, and thousands of teachers have received classroom donations from people around the world. I had the pleasure of writing a script that populates each Flowpage with teachers classroom wishlists. I am incredibly proud of our work and ability to use our products to drive positive impact at scale.
Favorite thing about working at Flowcode: The people! We have an incredible team of curious, innovative minds who put the team before themselves. We are building something truly special together and you can really feel the passion people have for their work.
Favorite Flowcode in the wild moment: Right when I first joined the company I was watching an NBA playoff game on TNT and I saw one of our Flowcode QR codes pop up on TV. I am a huge sports fan and to see my work and other passions combine on screen was an amazing moment.
What is your superpower: I have a calming presence and people tend to open up and share things with me. I appreciate open communication and love to learn more about peoples value sets and backgrounds, creating stronger connections between people.
Best piece of advice you have ever received: Resentment is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.
